An undersized culvert was located at a stream crossing that acted a barrier to fish movement. The decision was made to remove the pre-existing culvert and replace with an appropriately sized culvert that would not obstruct fish passage.
Within a season the benefits of the culvert replacement can be seen.
By 2025 the creek is looking very healthy.
This image shows a functioning riparian zone, and a healthy stream – the goal for all NEWSS projects. This site is part of the monitoring program for Chinook and other fish presence and use.
