Tritt Creek is a tributary of Chilco Creek which is a tributary of the Nechako River. The creek flows within a largely cultivated region of the Nechako Valley.
Agricultural Partnership
On Tritt Creek, there is a location that has been forded for many years as a crossing for agricultural access. While the crossing bed was stable and rock lined and sediment suspension from fording was considered minimal, the landowner wanted to protect fish and water quality values for this stream. Having landowners activity engage in habitat restoration work is a critical component of the success of rehabilitating and improving these creeks that support fish and other aquatic life.
Project List
Using best management practices to prevent sediment suspension, a 12 m bridge was installed which provides year-round fish passage opportunity and reduces potential for sediment input at the crossing site.
